The much buzzed about reboot of 1980s classic Ghostbusters has hired the writer of The Heat as its screenwriter.

Paul Feig, who directed The Heat as well as Bridesmaids, has brought in Katie Dippold to write the new Ghostbusters remake/reboot. The new film will star "hilarious women," according to a tweet Wednesday afternoon by Paul Feig:

"It's official. I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That's who I'm gonna call."

Considering Feig's track record, it's not too much of a surprise that he would want to feature women as his stars rather then men The original Ghostbusters team featured Bil Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis.

Both Bridesmaids and The Heat turned into big successes at the box office, each grossing over $100 million and turning Melissa McCarthy in particular into one of comedy's most successful stars.

Will McCarthy join the Ghostbusters reboot? It's very possible. Feig has a repertoire of actresses along with McCarthy that he could woo to appear in the reboot. Among them are Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Wendi McLendon-Covey. Ellie Kemper and Rebel Wilson, who all starred in Bridesmaids.

It's possible he could even get Sandra Bullock to lead the film. Even A-listers like Jennifer Lawrence or Emma Stone might want to be involved.

Other popular comediennes and actresses Feig could enlist include Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Mindy Kaling, Amy Schumer, Aubrey Plaza, Jane Lynch, and the patron saint of comedy, Betty White.
