The 2012 Olympic NBC TV schedule for swimming features intense races for possible gold and record-breaking swims. US swimmers, Missy Franklin and Michael Phelps are scheduled to contend for career advancing wins in the 200-Meter Backstroke and 100-Meter Butterfly finals, respectively.

Missy Franklin will swim in the 200-Meter Backstroke at the 2012 Olympic Swimming games on August 3 for a chance at breaking another record and possibly making history. Franklin will swim in her speciality event at 2:30PM EST.

The 17 year-old swimmer from Colorado can become the first US woman to win 3 golds in one Olympic event since Jenny Thompson in 2000. Franklin may also break the world record of becoming the first woman to sweep the Olympics in the backstroke event. The current record-holder is Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe.

Michael Phelps entered the 2012 London Olympics schedule with a slow start compared to his 8 gold medals wins in Beijing 4 years ago. However, after winning his 20th medal, Phelps also managed to finish first in the 100-Meter Butterfly Semi-Finals on Thursday. The US Olympian has 2 more swimming events left on the schedule for a possible advance to his record-breaking career.

"Phelps is out of our league. It's not fair that I'm talking for everybody, but I'm expecting something special tomorrow," Milorad Cavic, a medal contender from Serbia, said.

"I think he's going to go 50.5. I'm going to have to go 50.9 to assure myself a medal."

Phelps will be swimming in the 100-Meter Butterfly on August 3rd at 2:38PM EST.

Both events, Missy Franklin in the 200-Meter Backstroke and Michael Phelps in the 100-Meter Butterfly, can be seen on TV at 8PM EST, on NBC.
