Raymond Roth of Long Island, New York, has reportedly been suspected of faking his own death in order to get away from wife Evana and cash in on his life insurance policy, according to the New York Post.

Roth apparently planned out his very own disappearance along with his son Jonathon to trick his wife into thinking he had drowned upon taking a swim near his residence about a week prior. However, the plans were halted when he was pulled over on the I-95 in South Carolina for going 90 mph. Roth then proceeded to tell the officer that he was fighting with his wife.

Well before being stopped, Roth had written his son the following regarding the planned out disappearance:

"Do Not allow that a**hole to give the house away."

The cold-footed 47 year-old added, "about the jewelry we spoke of yesterday, you need to whisper in [a relative's] ear about it and do not worry she will get it,' and, 'tell [another relative] I handed you the papers -- then you JUST noticed that there was an envelope with [his] name on it (the last Will and Testemnet [sic]) then hand it to him."

The emails seem to tell the whole tale as a getaway plan seemed to have been well organized during the days before the disappearance. Roth's shoes, clothing, wallet and cellphone even ended up discovered on Jones Beach.

Upon son Jonathon informing authorities that his father went missing after a swim, a large search was orchestrated and went on until Wednesday.

However, the hoax tragedy took a turn for Roth's worst when his wife uncovered email correspondence between the dad and son on the day before the faked accident.

The plan then backfired as Evana began to put two and two together until she finally realized the ordeal had been staged.

"I said, 'You haven't even put out a résumé, and you want to sell the house? You'll need your suits for interviews," said Evana to Roth.

"He told me he didn't need [the clothes] - he would go back to driving a truck," she continued.

"On the day he went to the beach, he told me he was going to his mother's house," Evana recalled.

"I said, 'How long are you going to be? Are you going to be home for dinner?' He said, 'I'll be home in an hour,'" she added.
