Jimmy Kimmel will host the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards this Sunday, and the late-night talk show host has something up his sleeve.

Kimmel told Entertainment Weekly he is planning an enormous prank during the telecast that will make the awards ceremony must-see TV.

"I am gonna do something very weird during the show. I think it could possibly be the biggest prank ever pulled, as far as number of people involved.Possibly. I haven't researched it, but it'll definitely be right up there," Kimmel said. "The audience will be a participant in this. So it's important that you watch because you're either going to be in on it or not."

But that tease is all Kimmel would offer. He refused to say anything more as Entertainment Weekly pressed him for further information. "I will say nothing," he said.

But Kimmel did say the producers of the Emmy show have been very cooperative and largely given him free license to plan his material as he sees fit.

"They've been very open as far as ideas go. I think there's a respect for the host in that it's your ass while you're out there," he said. "You get to pick your sword, unless you've selected to do something offensive. They will advise you, but I don't think they'd tell me not to do something."

Hosting the Emmys is only the latest exciting development in Kimmel's career. In January, his late-night show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" will move up one hour to 11:35 p.m. Eastern time, putting him in direct competition with "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "The Late Show with David Letterman."
