The current, 12th season of NCIS began airing on Sept. 23, 2014 and it now officially has its final episode air date.

In a press release on Wednesday, CBS revealed that May 12 is the airdate of the Season 12 finale. The spin-off, NCIS: New Orleans will follow that night with its finale too.

The cast is busy shooting the last few episodes of the season. Just last week they wrapped filming the episode called Lost in Translation that will air on April 14.

The writer of the episode, Jennifer Corbett, gave some insight into filming the episode via her Twitter.

Sean Murray, who portrays Timothy McGee, on the series revealed to one of his Twitter followers on Saturday that there are only four weeks left of filming Season 12.

This season finale is going to be a big one apparently. The CBS website teased that a lot has happened this season, including seeing younger versions of Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ducky (David McCallum) so "you won't want to miss what this season's finale has in store. Don't miss the season finale of NCIS."

This is the rundown for the remaining episodes:

On April 7 the episode called No Good Deed will air. The following week on April 14, Lost in Translation, will air. On April 21 a new episode will not air, but new episodes will resume airing again starting on April 28 and will continue to May 5 and the finale on May 12.

NCIS airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
