With the production process currently underway, The CW's hit TV series, The Vampire Diaries, continuous to generate a slew of chatter over the highly anticipated kick off of its fifth season.

On Wednesday, July 10, the cast and crew began its first day of shooting, and they've reportedly added a fresh face on the set of Mystic Falls. A male doctor that "knows all of the bad-boy vampire's secrets," had reportedly been attached to the program, according to TVLine.

The respective character will join fellow newbie Megan, who is said to show up at Mystic Falls High's 1950s dance and attempts to win over Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen). Also, coming on board the program will be an Eastern European named Nadia, who comes onto both Matt (Zach Roerig) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) at a bar in Prague prior to warning Stefan (Paul Wesley) about The Originals.

 

The CW's Vampire Diaries is slated to launch Season 5 on Thursday, October 10. Its spin-off series, The Originals, is set to begin its first season on Tuesday, October 15.
