Netflix's Internet series, House of Cards, continues to pave the way for scripted programming in terms of its hands on viewing experience, allowing fans to watch as many episodes as they'd like during one sitting.

In January, several cast and crew members walked the red carpet for a screening in London, and took the opportunity to touch on both the web series and its impact on modern television.

Kevin Spacey (Francis Underwood) spoke to World Monitor about the impact the series had not just in the U.S., but also in the U.K. as well.

"We're incredibly delighted that we're in London for the very first premiere of House of Cards. It's a beloved series here," he said.

The well-known actor also dished on the evolution of TV and how the program has seemingly laid out new groundwork for the future of scripted content.

"For us it was a great launching pad to, you know, bring it into a modern context, make it real and now. Um .... but still keep that same delicious, uh....diabolical quality. In many ways, it seems to symbolize the way people are watching their entertainment now," Spacey added.

Kate Mara, who dons the role of Zoe Barnes, also elaborated on Netflix's success at going against grain of the general TV standards.

"It's so exciting to be part of a Netflix series that hasn't been done before, and to sort of bring this new idea to people, um... not just in the states but in England and all these other places," she said.

Writer Beau Willimon was also in attendance, and addressed how he feels the current version of House of Cards compares to its predecessor.

"I think there's a nice balance of homages to the original but, but also, um, we certainly wanted to make it our own with our own tone, and um, and, and a lot of our own storylines. And so I think it will be fresh for people that are familiar with the original," he said.
