Cleveland, Ohio, kidnapping victim Michelle Knight wrote a handwritten "thank you" note to Cleveland Police, posted Wednesday on the department's Facebook page.

The note read as follows:

Dear Commander Sulzer, officers and staff,

You don't know how much I appreciate all your time and work collecting cards and gifts from people for me and the other girls. I am overwhelmed by the amount of thoughts, love and prayers expressed by complete strangers. It is comforting. Life is tough, but, I'm tougher! Just when the caterpiller thought the world was over, she became a butterfly.

Thanks! God Bless you

Michelle Knight

The police department uploaded the photo onto its official Facebook page and captioned the image, "THIS IS A SPECIAL THANK YOU NOTE FROM A STRONG AND RESILIENT WOMAN WHO WILL FOREVER BE HELD DEARLY IN THE HEARTS OF THE POLICE OFFICERS AND RESIDENTS OF THE 2ND DISTRICT."

Knight was rescued on May 6 from the house of her abductor, Ariel Castro, along with fellow captives Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus. Castro is in court Thursday for his sentencing and is expected to face life in prison without parole plus 1,000 years, as part of a plea deal he agreed to on July 36. He pleaded guilty to 937 counts of kidnapping, rape, assault, aggravated murder and other charges.

The three victims have the opportunity to appear in court on Thursday and give a testimony, addressing Castro and the entire court room. Knight is expected to appear at the sentencing to read an impact statement, a source told ABC News.

Berry, 27, DeJesus, 23, and Knight, 32, were abducted in Cleveland between 2002 and 2004 when they were 14 to 20 years old.
