Mindy Kaling has a big responsibility in making the long-awaited "Legally Blonde" sequel a success as she serves as its writer, but in a recent interview, the comedian said she's nervous about writing the story after watching a series.

Speaking to Time Magazine, the author revealed that one of the biggest hurdles she's experiencing writing the Reese Witherspoon-starring film came from her thoughts after watching "And Just Like That."

The HBO Max series was the sequel to the hit 2000s TV Show "Sex and the City."

The 2021 to 2022 series revolves around Sarah Jessica Parker's role, Carrie Bradshaw, continuing her New York City lifestyle in her 50s.

Kaling admitted she loves Elle Woods, the movie's main character, but she and writing partner Dan Goor have to find different ways to show that the world has significantly changed since fans last saw her in 2003.

Since "Legally Blonde" and "SATC" were big franchises almost two decades ago, Kaling said she tried watching the revival HBO Max series but never finished all episodes because it was "too uncomfortable to watch."

She only watched two episodes because the show polarized critics, and she felt that the main characters: Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte, were stuck in 2004, and they were catching up with the present time.

"I felt like I could commiserate with the producers and the writers of the show, trying to address all these issues from the past, and be funny and fabulous, but also sort of apologize for itself," she added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Kaling gave fans a glimpse of what they could expect from the upcoming revival film, saying it's "just as fun," but she and Goor will balance the light-hearted spirit changes that have been happening in the world today.

The actress then listed all of the questions fans have about Elle Woods, saying they will address her future as a grown woman, her perspective in life, and many more.

At the time of this writing, there is still no official release date for "Legally Blonde 3."

The highly-anticipated prequel was initially scheduled for a spring 2022 release but has been delayed indefinitely as the writers are still perfecting the script.
