Phillip Phillips will not have surgery today. The American winner was scheduled to go under the knife today for his kidney problem. However, the procedure had to be postponed to next week because the crooner has come down with a fever, reports TMZ. Phillips' fever is due to a sinus infection.

Phillip Phillips had to undergo 8 operations to treat his kidney problem during the course of American Idol. He was scheduled for surgery in California and recovery in a Malibu mansion, thanks to an American Idol executive who has offered his home for Phillips and his parents during the course of the entire recovery.

"My right kidney just isn't kind of functioning and I need a little help with that so kind of have to get that fixed up pretty soon," Phillips told Digital Spy. "I'll get surgery soon - not just quite yet, but soon. I believe I should be 100% by the time the tour starts, so I won't miss anything."

Hopefully the postponed operation will not affect Phillip taking part in the American Idol summer tour. He is expected to take up to six weeks to discover after the surgery next week.

The 21-year-old singer waited until the end of the singing talent show to get the surgery done despite doctor's advice to have surgery right away.
