American Idol is back, and the Fox music competition launched into its second night of auditions on Thursday.

Following a recent creative overhaul, the Fox music competition is back with a fresh new feel. The new judging trio of Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez, and Keith Urban seem more focused on the talent in front of them than petty personal feuds, a task made easier by the fact that those treading the boards are now busy showing off their musical skills instead of competing for who has the saddest life story.

While the season premiere culled talent from Austin, Texas and Boston, the second night pulled more fresh faces from Austin and then headed out to San Francisco. Here is a recap of some of the performers that will be making their way to the next round in Hollywood.

Jesse Roach, 27, kicked off the evening and her rendition of K.T. Oslin's Do Ya snagged her a golden ticket. Jamiah Malik, 15, wasn't as lucky but 17-year-old sister Quiandra Boston-Pearsall is heading to Hollywood (see video below).

Marlon Lindsey, 27, finally realized his dream of auditioning after six years in the Army and his wait paid off when he exited the stage clutching a pass to the next round. Shortly after, T.K. Hash, 28, snagged a ticket for his rendition of Fall Out Boy's My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark.

In the most interesting audition of the evening, 15-year-old Tristen Langley - son of season 1's Nicki McKibbin - became the first second-generation Idol contestant as his followed in his mother's footsteps and moved on from the auditions.

American Idol airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
