American Idol put their Top 5 performers to the test on Monday night, challenging them to take on songs chosen by their loyal viewers.

Now that the judges only Save has been used up, the final five hopefuls had no safety net as they attempted to give fans just what they wanted on Wednesday night.

Alex Preston

Preston has slowly built himself up as a fan favorite, and he continued to elicit cheers when he took the stage for The Neighborhood's Sweater Weather. Unfortunately, his second act didn't impress the judges and Harry Connick Jr. dished out a bit of criticism in regards to Preston's rendition of A Great Big World's Say Something.

Jena Irene

The Michigan native was saddled with Amy Winehouse's Valerie and Young the Giant My Body for her Top 5 performance. Irene received compliments across the board for both of her acts.

Sam Woolf

Woolf lucked out on April 3 when he Jenifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Connick felt he was good enough to warrant a Save, and the Florida native has been trying to prove them right with his most recent performances. Woolf continued to impress with The Fray's How to Save A Life and Ed Sheeran's Sing.

Caleb Johnson

Johnson has never fallen into the bottom of the pack, and it doesn't look like he will be making a stop there this week. It's Johnson's third go around on the show, and his work on Aerosmith's I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing and Whitesnake's Still of the Night proves he is extremely determined to keep his place in season 14.

Jessica Meuse

Meuse has fallen into the Bottom 2 for two weeks running, but the young singer may have finally flipped the tables. Even Connick didn't have anything negative to say about her performances of Christina Perri's Human and Lana Dell Rey's Summertime Sadness.

American Idol will return on Thursday with a results show at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
