On May 13, the creator, Erica Messer, of Criminal Minds spoke about the finale of season 9 and what fans can expect from the show.

Things to 'Get Personal' as a 'Sad Secret' is Revealed in the Finale?

In an interview with TVGuide.com Messer suggested that the finale will be pretty shocking and will leave fans quite surprised. It has already been rumored that a major character will be dropped, rather killed off, in the finale and it Messer only added to the speculation.

"You won't believe which profiler will say goodbye forever," she said.

'Whole Team In Jeopardy Like They've Never Been Before' In Finale?

She also stated that it would be quite the emotional rollercoaster for fans and also touched upon Reid's storyline. Reid was left in a critical condition after being shot at in the first part of the finale. A report dated May 10 reveals that it seems like in Demons, the enemy might come to finish Reid -- who is grappling with death -- off in the hospital.

"It is a little dramatic," Messer said. "I was a little surprised they showed Reid awake ... but that doesn't necessarily mean anything."

Finale To Close With Cliffhanger After Death Of Major Character?

While people might think Reid might be the one to go, Messer stressed on the fact that anyone could be the target.

"No one is safe," she says. "This [episode] has that urgency to it and that you can really trust no one, and you feel that."

Here's the official synopsis for Demons:

"The BAU continues its murder investigation in Texas, and clues uncover a deep web of corruption that could be the motive for the killings. Meanwhile, as one team member's life hangs in the balance, another concerned BAU member must face a sad secret from the past, and Garcia is thrust into action to save a colleague, on the conclusion of the two-part ninth season finale of Criminal Minds."

The second part of the finale, Demons, will air on Wednesday, May 14 on CBS at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
