It looks like Adele may not be getting a chance to record her follow-up her smash hit in the last James Bond movie, Skyfall.

'Harry Potter' Star & Kate Upton Show Interest In 'Bond 24'

Adele is currently in hold-out with MGM about recording the title song for the upcoming Bond flick, currently called Bond 24. With the Rolling In The Deep singer unable to record, it looks like MGM may move on to up and coming singer Sam Smith to writer and perform the song.

According to the Mirror, Smith is MGM's top choice to record the title song for the movie. Per a source within MGM, "Sam is our top choice. He has the profile, cool image and astonishing voice to record a Bond theme."

'James Bond 24' Script Could Be Headed For More Revisions, Release Date In Trouble?

The Mirror reports that bosses think it would be great to have a British male singer perform the track and Smith would be perfect for the role, after his debut album, In The Lonely Hour, became a chart success both in the UK and the US when it was released in May.

It's almost 30 years since a British male singer sang a Bond theme song, with Simon Le Bon recording View to a Kill with Duran Duran and before that Tom Jones sang Thunderball in 1965.

While MGM is behind Smith, there are reports that James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, is still holding onto the prospect that Adele will return after her song went on to win an Oscar, Bafta, Golden Globe, and had a global number one.

Bond 24 is set to open in theaters on November 6, 2015.
