Tom Hardy might lose his chance to portray James Bond's role to an A-list actor.

The search for the next 007 started when Daniel Craig announced his exit from the franchise after the premiere of "No Time To Die." The film marked his fifth and last movie as the notable spy, following "Casino Royale" in 2006, "Quantum of Solace" (2008), "Skyfall" (2012), and "Spectre" (2015).

As the story continues, it would need an actor to release more James Bond stories.

Express UK recently revealed that Hardy, a longtime fan favorite, is seemingly losing his chance to Henry Cavill as the public urges the actor to become Craig's replacement.

The Scotsman estimates that Cavill has a 27.26 percent probability of becoming James Bond. Following him on the list are Regé-Jean Page (18.73 percent), Idris Elba (18.25 percent), Hardy (15.38 percent).

The next James Bond actor will take over after Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Craig.

Meanwhile, the franchise's showrunner Barbara Broccoli revealed to The Mirror that they would love to have Elba on board. She added that it would be a 10 to 12 years commitment for the chosen actor.

"We love Idris. The thing is, the decision is going to be a couple of years off. And when we cast Bond, it's a 10 to 12-year commitment. So he's probably thinking, 'Do I really want that?' It's not just about casting an actor for a film, it's about a reinvention," she states in quote to the Daily Mail.

Does Henry Cavill Want To Be James Bond?

Before topping the list, Cavill already shared his stance about starring in a 007 film.

The "Enola Holmes actor" sat down for an interview with The Movie Dweeb (via Comic Book) and answered whether or not he would consider going into becoming a Bond Villain.

Per Cavill, his decision would depend on Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson's interest in casting him. If it happens, he would reportedly be glad to sit down for a conversation.

In the past, he confirmed that he auditioned for the role in the mid-2000s.
