Production continued on Thursday for the second season of Showtime's Penny Dreadful, while Episode 1 of the new season hit the editing room.

More Monsters For 'Penny Dreadful'

Producer Christopher King was rather pleased with his "office" for the day, posting a photo on Twitter of the breathtaking view he got to enjoy while working on the series.

Season 2 Of 'Penny Dreadful' Is Giving Producers 'Nightmares'

The image could suggest they are shooting landscapes or up-close character scenes in the forest. Either way, it looks like the series is about to enter some more rural territory. As for editing the season premiere, overseeing that task went to director James Hawes, who helmed the first block of production. After spending a week in New York Hawes returned to go over the show's early scenes. On Thursday the director admitted to watching some footage through his hands, but for "all the wrong reasons" during his time in the cutting room.

Hawes, who maintained a positive outlook during production, seems far more concerned about piecing the scenes together in the editing room.

If Season 1 is any indication, however, Hawes has nothing to fear. The series received high praise for its composition as well as its story and performances, meaning the Showtime team knows what they're doing.

Penny Dreadful returns to Showtime for a second season in 2015.
