Reeve Carney may be something of a rock star, but the actor still needed dance lessons for Penny Dreadful this season.

Ethan Chandler Will Find Out What He Is On 'Penny Dreadful' This Season 

Recently Showtime released a behind-the-scenes look at a season 2 scene which follows Carney (Dorian Gray) as he prepares to dance in Dorian's magnificent room of portraits (featured below).

As it turns out, the musician-turned-actor required some lessons in order to get the hang of things. Considering the fact that Dorian looks as if he'd be naturally graceful doing just about anything, the actor likely felt the pressure of getting it right.

Dancing might be a nice distraction for Dorian this season given his fallout with Vanessa Ives (Eva Green). She broke things off with him at the end of season 1 because intimacy with him had triggered a devastating demonic possession which nearly cost the woman her life.

Unaccustomed to rejection, season 2 will reveal that Dorian hasn't let her go just yet. He still has a photograph of Vanessa and longs to be reunited with the mysterious woman who has captured his heart. Will he try to win her back? Look for a relationship elsewhere? Perhaps the dance is all part of a new courtship.

Unlike most, Dorian Gray is one man who literally has all the time in the world to decide what to do next.

Penny Dreadful returns on Showtime for a second season on April 26 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
