Although the network hasn't yet named Rancic's official replacement, sources claim Menounos is the one.

“Maria is beyond excited at the upcoming opportunity to be the anchor for E! News. She came in gunning for Giuliana’s job and she got it,” a source told Radar Online on Thursday.

Giuliana Rancic Quits E! News, Final Episode Will Air Next Month

In February, Radar Online first reported on the possibility of Menounos replacing Rancic after she signed a deal with the network to appear on Live from the Red Carpet.

“Giuliana feels incredibly threatened in every aspect of her job — and for good reason!” their source explained. “They avoid each other at all costs and when they do have interactions, it is so awkward because Giuliana is constantly trying to prove herself by one-upping Maria."

The source went on to hint of Menounos' future on E! News.

“A lot of people within the company believe that Maria was hired to push Giuliana out," their source said at the time. "[And] most of the employees there are actually glad because Giuliana is just no longer a nice person and is not pleasant to be around.”

Rancic announced she was leaving E! News on Wednesday, stating, "For more than a decade, I was fortunate enough to play a role in the success of E! News and will miss my family at the show."
