Gina Lollobrigida, one of the most known sex symbols of the 1950's and 1960's is selling some of her jewelry to raise money for charity, saying now is her time to give back.

Over the course of Lollobrigida's career, she has taken on roles of a photojournalist, sculptor and humanitarian and in one of her last jobs, the 85-year-old fashionista will sell 23 jewels from her Bulgari collection at Sotheby's Geneva Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels on May 14.

Forbes reported that special pieces from the Bulgari collection will travel across the world--Hong Kong, London, New York and Rome before returning in Geneva for the sale.

Lollobrigida said she will donate the proceeds to a fund to set up a hospital for stem cell research.

"This will not be the end of the jewelry but it will be something that does good, helping a cause that is very important to me," she told Reuters in a phone interview from Rome. "I want to leave a souvenir of my life."

Highlighted pieces from the sale include:

Diamond necklace and bracelet combination worn by Lollobrigida when she received her 1961 Golden Globe (estimate, $300,000 - $500,000).

Pair of natural pearl and diamond pendants worn by Lollobrigida when she met Princess Margaret at The Taming of the Shrew premiere in London in 1967 (estimate, $600,000 - $1 million).

Diamond ring set with a cushion-shaped diamond weighing 19.03 carats (estimate, $400,000-800,000).

Pair of emerald and diamond earclips (estimate $150,000 - $250,000).

Emerald and diamond brooch set to the center with a step-cut emerald weighing 27.57 carats (estimate, $150,000 - $250,000).

Rmerald and diamond ring set with a step-cut emerald weighing 16.62 carats (estimate $120,000 - $180,000).

The actress said this her time to share the jewels with other collectors. "In so doing, I can also help a cause very close to my heart, that of stem cell research - treatment, which I believe should be freely available to every child," she said.
