It's being reported that as many as five teams are interested in signed the most coveted free agent on the market in outfielder Josh Hamilton.  While the list includes the Boston Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers and Seattle Mariners, many expect the star outfielder to resign with the Texas Rangers.

It's been rumored that Hamilton hasn't garnered the free agent appeal that many expected him to.  However, Texas General Manager Jon Daniels begged to differ when he spoke to MLB at the Winter Meetings.

"Anytime anybody says they're out on this guy or that guy ... it's usually the opposite.  I don't know in Josh's case, but this is the time of the year everybody is out on everybody until they sign them to a big contract."

"I don't think anybody is trying to be deceptive or dishonest, but it's the name of the game. It's deceptive in a fun way," he added.

Hamilton is currently seeking a seven-year deal. However, none of the ball clubs interested have been willing to make an offer over three years as of yet.

The outfielder batted .285 with 43 home runs and 128 runs batted in last season. He's been a member of the Rangers for the last five seasons and has played a large part in their success, which includes back-to-back World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011.

As of late, the superstar has been in the Nashville area to meet with other clubs.

Nonetheless, the Rangers anticipate having talks with Hamilton before he makes a permanent decision on where he will sign. Before all is said and done, the team is expected to make a legitimate offer to the outfielder in order to keep him in a Texas uniform.

While the Rangers will look to make every effort possible to assure Hamilton remains with the ball club, Daniels doesn't know if the player's asking price will be within his range.

"I don't know.  I just don't know," he said.
