Are Alex (Laura Prepon) and Piper (Taylor Schilling) destined to stay together forever on Netflix's Orange Is the New Black?

How Different Is 'Orange Is the New Black's Piper Chapman From Her Real-Life Inspiration?

Alex and Piper went through a rough patch in season 3, not exactly leaving things on the best terms. But as the show returns for season 4 next year, will things be patched up for the incarcerated love birds?

Prepon and Schilling spoke at a For Your Consideration event this week where they addressed the status of Prepon in season 4 (she's coming back!) and whether Alex was justified in being paranoid about Lolly (Lori Petty).

Are 'Orange Is the New Black's Poussey & Soso Getting Together In Season 4?

"She was justified in her paranoia," Prepon said. "I think that empowers her. In season 4, we definitely don't see a timid side of Alex."

Alex was last seen in the season 3 finale in a confrontation with a former drug associate. Could this scare bring Piper closer to Alex again in season 4?

"You can't control where your heart goes," Prepon said. "Alex and Piper will always have a connection, and I definitely think that if Alex needed her or she needed Alex, they would be there for each other completely."

As for Schilling, she expressed that Piper may be a little more co-dependent than she thought.

"When that bond is real and that kind of connection happens, it never just gets severed. ... I don't know if Piper can [be on her own]," she said. "I think part of her journey is going to be learning to stand on her own two feet. And I think probably she didn't realize how dependent she was."

Orange Is the New Black is currently streaming on Netflix, with season 4 expected for release in summer 2016.
