Ellen DeGeneres finally said the hardest word to tell his fans - "Goodbye."

On Twitter, DeGeneres confirmed that they recorded the final episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Friday. She then revealed that the episode would air on May 26.

The particular episode would wrap her show after 19 seasons following her decision not to renew it.

The same post also featured a photo of her as she looked in the audience's direction.

In a followup post, she took her time to reminisce about how the show started and thanked her fans for their continuous support despite hitting rock bottom of her career.

"When we started this show in 2003, the iPhone didn't exist. Social Media didn't exist. Gay marriage wasn't legal. We watched the world change, sometimes for the better, sometimes not. But whatever was happening, my goal was always for the show to be a place where we could all come together and laugh for an hour," she said.

DeGeneres added that she got the greatest privilege in her life and experienced joy when she was able to become part of the viewers' lives.

In the end, she repeatedly said "Thank you" to her followers.

"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" first conquered the TV when it premiered on Sep. 8, 2003. Throughout its two-decade run, it successfully scored 64 Daytime Emmys and welcomed more than 4,000 guests.

Did Ellen DeGeneres End Show Due to Toxic Workplace Environment Allegations?

Before announcing the end of her talk show, DeGeneres faced damaging accusations due to her toxic behavior and promotion of an unhealthy workplace environment. This led viewers to think that those might be the reason why she decided to leave the show.

However, she has since clarified that the show became unchallenging and that she wanted to end it already.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she noted that she planned to walk away next year.

"When you're a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged - and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it's just not a challenge anymore," she reasoned out.

However, a source still revealed to PEOPLE that DeGeneres had the last straw when the allegations came out. It started in July 2020 when BuzzFeed News posted an article about the experiences of the former and current staff of the show.

At that time, employers accused DeGeneres and the show's executive producers of creating a toxic work environment based on fear and bullying.

Some "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" guests also reportedly experienced the same, causing DeGeneres to suffer more condemnations.
