Is 'Big Brother 17' Shaping Up To Be Better Than Season 15 & 16?

The rest of the Head of Household competition played out on the live feeds Thursday night. Fans saw Meg drop out first in the episode, but when the feeds returned, the houseguests dropped out in the following order: Julia, Vanessa, John, Steve. Austin and James battled it out but Austin wound up winning the competition.

With Austin as HOH, he will have to break some promises this week since he has deals with literally everyone still left in the house. Most of the houseguests want to target Vanessa, but Austin is still weighing his options.

Austin told James and Meg that he would be protecting them this week, because of their Brass Tacks alliance. He told several people that John and Steve would be his initial nominees. But he also told Liz that he might consider putting up John and Vanessa.

Meanwhile, over in Vanessa land, she still seems paranoid about everyone in the house but she told Austin that this guarantees them plus Liz, Julia and Steve as the Final 5. Unfortunately for Vanessa, none of those people have any interest in getting to the Final 5 with her, except maybe Steve.

Vanessa told Austin she wanted him to target John by backdooring him. Then Vanessa had a discussion with Julia and they agreed that James might be more dangerous than anyone. Julia conferred with Liz and the two of them considered James as the new target. Austin still thought that John would be a better option.

Austin has also talked about backdooring Vanessa and sending her out, saying it would be "good TV." There's really no telling what Austin is going to do since he changes his mind by the minute. The Nomination ceremony is today, Friday, and he will probably put up John and Steve. As far as the eviction target, it's anyone's guess. But don't be surprised if Vanessa slips through yet again.

Big Brother 17 returns for a new episode Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. The episode will feature footage from the HOH competition through the Nomination ceremony.
