The President delivered an emotional address when he commented on a senseless shooting that occurred in Connecticut.

President Obama held a press conference at the White House five hours after Ryan Lanza, 24, the son of a teacher, shot at least 29 people, including at least 18 children at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday, Dec. 14.

President Obama openly wept when he stated that "our hearts are broken" for the families of the victims in the deadly mass shooting.

"I know there's not a parent in America who doesn't feel the same overwhelming grief that I do," Obama said.

The White House spokeman said earlier on Friday that President Obama has "enormous sympathy" for the families that have been affected by the deadly mass shooting.

According to several reports, Lanza enterted the school around 9:40 a.m. dressed in dark military-style clothing, a mask, a bulletproof vest, and was carrying four weapons, including two handguns and a .223-caliber rifle. He fired over 100 times. Police have recovered two weapons from the suspect, a Glock and a Sig Sauer, the source told CNN.

Lanza reportedly first opened at the principal's office and then in the classroom where his mother, Nancy, taught a kindergarten class. Lanza shot and killed the kindergarten teacher and then her eighteen students in the classroom before moving from room-to-room to other children and teachers.

A second man was taken into custody after being seen running from the school following the tragic incident. It turned out to be Lanza's younger brother. He was found in the woods after hundreds of police officers and their trained dogos canvassed the surrounding area. Their father was found dead at his Newtown home around 2pm, according to officials.

One of the feared victims is believed to be the school principle, Dawn Hochsprung, 47, in addition to the school psychologist, Daily Mail Online reports. The mayor is holding off releasing the identities of the victims until all next-of-kin are contacted.

Lanza is dead but it is not clear if he shot himself or was brought down by officers. As of press time, his body is still at the scene in a classroom.
