The funeral for the nurse who killed herself after the royal hoax prank call has been held in India today. Jacintha Saldanha, 46, was found hanged Dec. 7, just three days after she transferred a hoax call she thought was the Royal family to Kate Middleton's private room in a London hospital.

Saldanha's body was flown to her hometown in India where nearly 2,000 mourners attended to pay their respects. The hoax victim's husband and their two children arrived flew to India on Dec. 16. The family had moved to the UK only twelve years ago.

In a press conference after Saldanha was buried, a family friend said in a statement: "The events of the last week have shattered our lives and we barely have any strength to grieve. The incidents leading to this tragedy are being investigated by the London Metropolitan Police and they have assured us of a full and fair investigation."

A memorial service was held for Saldanha Saturday in the UK at Westminster Cathedral. Other memorial services were held at the hospitals she worked in London and in Bristol.

Australian DJs called London's King Edward VII's Hospital on Dec. 4, pretending to be the Queen and Prince of Wales. Saldhana transferred the hoax call to a colleague who described Kate Middleton's condition in detail.

The DJs have since been taken off air and a return date has not been confirmed.

Jacintha Saldanha reportedly left suicide notes before she hanged herself. Daily Mail reported last week that a source connected to the nurse's family said one of Saldanha's suicide notes is critical of the hospital for the treatment she received after the prank call.

"The nurse found dead following a hoax call to the hospital treating the Duchess of Cambridge criticised senior colleagues over her treatment in one of three suicide notes," the report said. "She has criticized colleagues at the King Edward VII hospital over her treatment following the controversial call."

According to TMZ, another one of Saldanha's suicide notes reportedly described how she tried to cope with a fallout with the hospital because of the prank call.
