Sunderland vs Swansea takes place in the English Premier League on Tuesday night in a truly mid-table clash. The game will kick off at 7.45 p.m. UK time and can be watched online through live stream via the link below.

Both of these teams have done extremely well so far this season and will be delighted with their current placings in the English Premier League table.

Swansea lie in 9th position with 33 points from their 23 games. They will still be looking at the magic points number of 40 as their immediate goal - 40 points is widely considered the safe mark for teams to avoid relegation. And although that number has not guaranteed safety every season (as West Ham fans will remember), this season it looks highly likely that the bottom three will even struggle to hit 38 points let alone trouble anyone with 40.

With 15 games to go Swansea would have to have an almighty collapse not to make 40 points now, although they will take nothing for granted and will see tonight as a good opportunity to claim three more points towards that goal.

Sunderland meanwhile lie a few places below Swansea in 11th place. They have just 28 points from their 23 games, and although that is good progress, they will know a run of bad form at this stage in the season could see them drop back down into the relegation dog fight.

Three points today in a home game against a mid-table team is on offer, and Sunderland fans will expect the team to deliver today. At the very least the Sunderland fans will want a point from today’s game - anything less would be hugely disappointing.

Swansea fans might have one eye already on their scheduled trip to Wembley next month, and many will probably want to ignore a 700 mile round trip to northern England for this fixture. However, Swansea manager Michael Laudrup will want his team to maintain intensity and be in good form when their trip to Wembley comes around.

Sunderland will be no push-overs. They were in the relegation zone just at the beginning of last month, but they have since won 5 of 8 games, and are storming back up the league table under Martin O'Neill. If Sunderland even claim a draw today they could move up into the top half of the table (if Stoke lose to Wigan in one of tonight’s other games).
