Manchester City vs Liverpool is the huge afternoon game in the English Premier League on Sunday. After Manchester United’s late win against Fulham on Saturday the pressure moves on to City to claim three points today to close the gap back to seven points. The reigning Premier League champions are starting to feel the pressure this year and are in danger of falling too far behind their huge local rivals in the chase for this year’s title. City will be desperate not to allow United to take their crown away, but with just more than a dozen games to go of the season the Blues are in danger of falling 10 points behind.

As it stands City have this game in hand, and they must take advantage of it to claim the three points and move back to within seven of the Red Devils.

Liverpool meanwhile have done well to work their way back up the league after their horrendous start to the season. However, it will now take a good run of form to break through into the upper echelons of the EPL table. At the moment they are six points below Arsenal in 6th place, and a further point behind both Everton and Tottenham in 5th and 4th positions respectively.

A win today for Liverpool would move them to within three points of the Gunners and would move them into a fantastic position to make an assault on the top six.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany could be out for a further three weeks, and Maicon and Micah Richards will also likely be out for a few more weeks at least.

For Liverpool meanwhile, new signing Philippe Coutinho will not feature in today’s game, but Pepe Reina, Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique all continue their comeback to fitness after all featuring against Arsenal recently.
