John Mayer has admitted that he is not the perfect boyfriend and that he was a jerk.

The 35-year-old who is currently dating pop star Katy Perry said in an interview with CBS' Anthony Mason that he is coming clean about his ways with women. The interview is scheduled to air Sun, Feb 10 and 9AM ET.

In the CBS interview, Mayer said: "It's very liberating when you realize it's impossible to make everyone like you. I wanted everybody to like me. I thought I was one shuck and jive away in every direction."

Mayer has famously dated Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, Taylor Swift and Minka Kelly.

In the past, Mayer told Playboy magazine intimate details about his sexual experiences with ex-girlfriend, Jessica Simpson. He had referred to Simpson as "sexual napalm" and "crack cocaine" in a 2010 interview.

In 2010, Taylor Swift famously penned a break up song about Mayer titled Dear John, which appeared on her Speak Now album. Swift's words cut him deep as he told Rolling Stone Magazine he felt humiliated and terrible about the song. "Because I didn't deserve it. I'm pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do," he told the magazine.

About his relationships with Simpson and others he said, "I was a jerk."

Mayer also briefly opens up about his current relationship with Katy Perry, who he's dated off and on since June 2012.
