Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard might be proud and loving parents to their 9-month-old son Israel David, but unfortunately they are getting slammed for being negligent parents by both fans and critics alike. There's a new report that says the former reality television couple is being heavily criticized for apparently not doing enough "babyproofing" in their rented home in Guatemala.

According to Yahoo Parenting on Monday, the controversy began when Derick shared a photo of Israel sitting on a blanket next to a pile of presents and an unprotected electricity socket. Derick captioned the photo with, "Israel loved his 1st Christmas! #israeldaviddillard #firstchristmas #christmas2015."

The young celebrity father's fanbase quickly pointed out that the outlet didn't have any safety caps to prevent his son from sticking his fingers in the open slots.

Some followers commented on the pic, "Accidental injuries are one of the top causes of death of children in this country. Baby proofing your home is the smartest thing you can do to protect your child. These safeguards were invented for a reason. Why take a chance?" Along with, "Look out for that electrical outlet, neglectful parents."

One fan did manage to defend the couple by writing, "He is beautiful and I am pretty sure the parents are watching him since they are taking the photo. Derick and Jill, he looks like a happy baby!"

So far Derick himself has not responded to the controversy.
