Batman and Superman have an interesting dynamic that's been explored on several occasions in DC comics over the course of time, and it seems that those periodic collaborations won't be ending anytime soon.

DC Comics made the announcement earlier in the week that it would be launching a brand new Batman/Superman comic book series as part of the New 52 reboot that began last year.

The upcoming series is said to be focusing on the very first meeting between two of DC's most iconic and popular characters.

First time DC writer Greg Pak will be penning the story along with Jae Lee, who will be in charge of the comic's artwork. Marvel fans should be familiar with Pak, as he's done work on Incredible Hulk, War Machine and series such as Fantastic Four and Young Avengers, amongst several other notable projects.

Nonetheless, it won't be Lee's first rodeo with DC, as he also was in charge of the art for Before Watchmen: Ozymandias in 2012.

While Pak has stayed relatively mum on the highly anticipated comic series, he did tease its synopsis to USA Today.

"What would your reaction be if you saw a guy running around in a bat costume in the dead of night attacking people for the first time? And what would your reaction be if you met an alien who could crush steel in his bare hands for the first time? These guys are going to have very different immediate impressions of each other than we're used to seeing with these characters."

Batman/Superman will mark the first time that Lee and Pak have worked with one another directly.

DC recently released a couple of the illustrations for the future comic.
