Colony has presented sci-fi fans with quite a conundrum - an alien invasion without the aliens.

'Colony' USA: What Is In Store For Carlos? EP Dishes On Factory Mystery

USA's latest hit picks up months after the "Arrival." Los Angeles, and presumably the world, has been sectioned off into blocks. Off screen, the unseen alien force pulls the strings. On screen, collaborators have created a totalitarian regime. So, will the extraterrestrial overlords ever take the screen?

For now, the answer appears to be no.

"We didn't want to show the invasion. We didn't want to show the aliens. We didn't want the show to be about our characters battling the aliens," series creator Carlton Cuse told The Hollywood Reporter. "We wanted this show to be an espionage thriller set against this intense science fiction backdrop."

That, however, doesn't mean the "Arrival" will never be featured. It just won't be the typical run-for-your-lives invasion sci-fi fans are used to.

"I think over time, there are aspects of the arrival that are worth seeing - but again, we want to be sure that we present it in a nontraditional way," Cuse teased.

In the meantime, the face of evil comes in three forms - drones, collaborators, and Red Hats.
