There are a lot of tough scenes that the cast goes through when it comes to filming The Walking Dead, but Lauren Cohan has come clean about one particular scene that almost made her quit the show overall.

See What Happens After Sam's Outburst

In a new interview, Cohan opens up about the season three episode "Killer Within," where her character had to give Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) a C-section while they were in the prison, which unfortunately led to Lori's death when she lost too much blood--and forced her son, Carl (Chandler Riggs) to shoot her in the head so she wouldn't come back as a walker.

However, Cohan now admits that when she first read the script, she almost quit the show because of how intense it was.

Daryl Will Be A Big Part Of Season 6B

"The script where Maggie has to give the character Lori a C-section to save the baby that becomes baby Judith...I go two doors down and I knock on Steven (Yeun)'s door, and I said, 'I have to leave the show,'" she recalled. "'I don't think I can do it.' It affects you so deeply to the core to touch on, to dive into some of this material. And then I realized that's why I have to do it."

Of course, the idea of a character potentially dying because of a C-section is something that could be revisited again on the show. Maggie is currently pregnant with Glenn's (Yeun) baby, though it's unclear if that storyline will play out with dire consequences.

The Walking Dead returns Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
