The plan was to get to the armory and get the weapons needed to control the horde of walkers invading Alexandria, but Sam's (Major Dodson) decision to call out for his mother in the final moments of The Walking Dead's mid-season 6 finale could have some disastrous consequences when the show returns.

Daryl Making A 'Big Splash' In New Episodes?

A new promo clip for the second half of the season revisits the finale, as Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Carl (Chandler Riggs), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Gabriel (Seth Gilliam), Jessie (Alexandra Breckenridge), Sam, and Ron (Austin Abrams) join hands and make their way through the sea of walkers while disguised as them by wearing bed sheets covered in guts.

"Stay calm. You can move right through them." Rick is heard saying in the clip, as the group begins to move.

Will [SPOILER] Die Because Of Negan?

But then, Sam makes his ill-advised decision and starts calling Jessie--saying "Mom, Mom," as he tries to get her attention--something that everyone knows walkers can't do.

The clip cuts out soon after, showing only Rick turning back when he hears Sam speak.

It seems as though the clip suggests that Rick will quickly spring to action when he realizes what Sam has done--and the danger he has put all of them in now.

The action is set to pick up when the show returns with this scene, showing what happens in those moments--and reveals who will likely die as the herd realizes that the humans it seeks are standing in the middle of them.

The Walking Dead returns Sunday, Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
