It feels like The X-Files only just returned, but it's already time to start thinking about the finale.

'The X-Files' 2016: More Episodes On The Way? Chris Carter & Gillian Anderson Tease Future

The six-episode revival will come to a close on Feb. 22 as Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) attempt to quell the conspiracy from "My Struggle." Aptly titled "My Struggle: Part 2," the final hour will see the entire nation plunge into chaos.

"The investigations that Mulder and Scully previously began with conspiracy theorist and web-TV show host Tad O'Malley (guest star Joel McHale) seem to have awakened powerful enemies," Fox teased. "A widespread panic begins as people all over the country suddenly start falling gravely ill, and Scully must look within to try and find a cure."

While the good doctor dives into the science aspect, her partner will face the secret keepers head on.

"Mulder confronts the man whom he believes to be behind it all, but another figure from Mulder and Scully's past may prove to be the key to their salvation."

Will this blast form the past have to do with the Cigarette Smoking Man's (William B. Davis) upcoming appearance? With all the trouble he's caused in the original series, it would be an interesting twist if his actions/information were to help unravel The X-Files' latest conundrum.

The finale will also provide a second proving ground for Mulder and Scully 2.0, also known as Agent Miller (Robbie Amell) and Agent Einstein (Lauren Ambrose).
