Following news that Jimmy Fallon might take over the late night talk show time slot currently held by Jay Leno, sources close to the situation told New York Post Howard Stern is being prepped as the new Fallon.

The radio host is being "groomed" by NBC to host the late night show just as Leno's contract on the Tonight Show ends in 2014 and Fallon will likely move up to take his spot.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon airs at 12:25 a.m. EST weeknights while Late Show with Jay Leno airs at 11:35 p.m. EST.

Stern is currently a judge on America's Got Talent and his fame has expanded as a result of it. His wife, Beth Ostrosky Stern, told the newspaper that Howard is recognized more often because of the reality show competition.

"We were in a hotel and all these little kids recognize him now as the judge from America's Got Talent," she said. "Usually it's their dads. But now it is screaming little kids. People are now seeing him for who he really is."

As for a comment on her husband being ready to host a late night talk show, she said, "I always say that to him! He is one of the best interviewers out there."

From 1990-92, he had The Howard Stern Show on Saturday nights and for 11 years - beginning in 1994 - E! aired a half-hour television broadcast version of his radio show, according to the publication.

Howard's agent Don Buchwald refused to comment on clients.
