Soldiers are coming to Wayward Pines.

'Wayward Pines' Season 2: A Historian Joins The Cast, Meet CJ Mitchum

Life in 41st century is rife with violence - hangings, explosions, you name it - but until season 1 came to a close, humanity's last stronghold looked for all the world like an idyllic town. Now that the First Generation is in charge, however, divisions will cause armed soldiers to take to the streets.

Christopher Meyer will join the season 2 cast as Mario, according to Deadline, and the actor's casting has shed light on what the latest iteration of Wayward Pines will look like.

'Wayward Pines' Season 2: Series Snags Sophomore Run, What's Next For Ben?

The sophomore run will open as Dr. Theo Yedlin (Jason Patric) is awakened from stasis and dropped into a town that's in the middle of yet another rebellion. This time, it appears Kerry Campbell (Nimrat Kaur) will be one of the faction's leaders, and Mario will be under his sway.

"Meyer will play Mario, described as bulked up and self-important, he is one of Kerry Campbell's soldiers, wearing a uniform and carrying weapons," Deadline teased.

Will Mario and the residents of Wayward Pines continue to compromise humanity's future by picking each other off? Find out when the series returns to Fox later this year.
