‘Empire’ Actor Threatening To Quit? ‘Hates Not Being The Star’

He took to Instagram to shut down the reports that claimed he wanted to walk away from the show because he wasn’t a big enough star.

“I don’t normally spend my time dispelling rumors, but there is something I’d like to address,” he began in the caption. “I have nothing but love and respect for ‘Empire’ and all who are involved in the show.”

He added that he has a “fabulous relationship” with the network as well.

“[I] hold myself to the highest standards professionally.”

He went to call out the report that claimed he wanted to leave because his role as the oldest Lyon son, Andre Lyon, isn’t big enough.

“How could I think of demanding something larger than Adre, where I get to express a man with Bipolar disorder, who is on a spiritual journey to find his identity? I am so proud, so happy, and so lucky to be a part of this cast. This show has started my career. See you in Season Three!”

Byers also found his future wife on the show. He is engaged to Grace Gealey, who plays Anika Calhoun, a woman who was once engaged to Andre’s father, Lucious Lyon.

Rumors surrounding the show and cast have been sparked ever since the show catapulted into success in early 2015. From viewers suing the creator, Lee Daniels and star Terrence Howard, for billions of dollars for reportedly stealing their life stories, to claims that Howard was feuding with lead female actress Taraji P. Henson.

Empire returns to Fox on March 23 at 9/8c.
