Hold on to your hats, iZombie fans; the season 2 finale is going to blow you away.

The CW's brain muncher will close out its sophomore run with a massive double header. "Dead Beat" and "Salvation Army" will air back to back on April 12, and the events of the finale has the cast wondering where on earth the story could possibly go next.

"I'll be honest; I have no idea what is going to happen [in] episode 1 season 3," Malcolm Goodwin (Clive) told EnStars at WonderCon 2016. "What happens in these last two episodes, everything blows up in such a way that I don't think any of us expected."

iZombie's creators were optimistically writing towards a 22-episode season, but when the order came down for just 19, Rob Thomas and Co. had to pack the last few episodes with as much story as possible. As such, the case-of-the-week format will temporarily go out the window as Liv (Rose McIver) closes in on Max Rager during the two-hour finale.

"The last two episodes is no procedural. It's just these high-stakes circumstances with major consequences, which kind of shakes up the entire format of the show," Goodwin explained. "We we're blown away by it."

If you thought last year's "Blaine's World" was mind-blowing, you should be forewarned - the season 1 finale is a flash in the pan compared to the explosive storyline planned for April 12.

"Our season finale is enormous, for us. We kind of stocked away money all year so we could have a huge season finale," Thomas told EnStars. "We felt like last year's season finale was big, and this year's dwarfs it. It's as close to an action move as we can afford to do on the show."
