Emily Deschanel recently spoke on what fans should expect for the Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) storyline when Bones returns for the second half of season 11.

The time has finally come for Bones to return to Fox! The midseason premiere, titled "The Death in the Defense," is set to air on Thursday.

Deschanel, who plays Brennan on the Fox procedural, spoke with E! News in a new report about how Hodgins is coping after he was paralyzed in the fall finale.

"One big thing is we've left on a big realization -- I don't know if we'd call it a cliffhanger exactly -- but the big stuff for Hodgins where we discover that he's paralyzed," she said. "When we come back, he is in the middle of rehabilitation. He's not a happy camper, as a lot of people would be having to deal with the fact that they very likely won't be walking again."

The development will greatly affect his relationship with Angela (Michaela Conlin) as well as his relationship with his co-workers.

"He has a big road ahead of him recovering, and that's taking a toll on his relationship with Angela and then all of us," Deschanel said. "We're watching their relationship having some trouble and then also we are dealing with Hodgins and it becomes strained at work as well."

Meanwhile, Fox has released a new trailer for the midseason premiere featuring Thyne and Conlin speaking about Hodgins' storyline.

"Knowing Hodgins, he's probably gonna try desperately to act as though everything's okay," Thyne says in the video. "I just don't know how long he's gonna be able to keep that up."

He confirmed Deschanel's statements about this affecting his relationships with everyone around him, and also noted that he's trying to "emotionally" prepare for what life will be for him now.

Bones airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
