Legends of Tomorrow's Sara Lance will be hit with a fresh new wave of grief before season 1 comes to a close.

Ever since her return from the 1950s, the Arrow assassin and current time traveler has found a new sense of peace. Fans can expect all that to change for the worse when news of Laurel Lance's (Katie Cassidy) death reaches the crew of the Waverider.

The sisters' dad, Quinten (Paul Blackthorne), will drop by the Thursday night series, and it sounds like he will be the barer of bad news. With the Black Canary six feet under, how could he have anything but ill tidings?

"Sara will find out what happened with Laurel," executive producer Mark Guggenheim told TV Line. "Paul was very gracious to lend his time to Legends to really allow us to explore that. I feel like we give it its due."

All that remains is to find out exactly when the White Canary will learn that Team Arrow just became a little bit smaller - and not only in terms of when the crossover episode will air. There's always the chance that Sara (Caity Lotz) will bump into her pops out of sequence, an unfortunate side effect of time traveling that could cause the heroine to learn the news years in the future. If she was upset during "Star City 2046," one can only imagine how she will feel when she confronts a tragedy no amount of Time Master meddling can fix.

Next time on Legends of Tomorrow, Rip and his crew will have to defend their childhood selves against the Time Master's Omega Protocol in "Last Refuge" (see a preview below).

"The team is targeted by The Pilgrim (guest star Faye Kingslee), a deadly assassin who wants to erase the Legends from the timeline by killing their younger, non-superhero selves. As a protective countermeasure, Rip (Arthur Darvill) decides Sara, Snart (Wentworth Miller), Rory (Dominic Purcell), Professor Stein (Victor Garber) and Jax (Franz Drameh) need to kidnap their past selves first before The Pilgrim gets to them," The CW teased. "Rip tells them he has a refuge for their precious cargo - an orphanage that raises future Time Masters and where he himself grew up."
