Person of Interest's Team Machine should watch their backs. The series finale is coming, and it won't be kind to our heroes.

The season premiere gave viewers a brief glimpse of the future, and it certainly wasn't pretty. Finch's go-to subway hideout was abandoned, and, with Samaritan's eyes and ears covering every inch of the planet like an Orwellian nightmare, there's no place for the POI squad to hide.

"It's going to take some time to catch up there," executive producer Jonathan Nolan told TV Insider. When the flash forward does come to pass, however, a good portion of the cast might be down for the count.

"The ending, I thought, was really satisfying - and still ever so slightly open-ended, so that if someone, someday wanted to reboot this thing, or have a Chapter 2 of some sort, it wouldn't be out of the question," Emerson informed TV Guide. "There are survivors ... [but] not many."

Yikes.

Emerson's comments are in line with those of Nolan, who recently told Entertainment Weekly that the finale season doesn't "tie things up...so much as blow things up."

For now, however, Finch and his comrades are caught up with fixing the machine. Once the AI is up and running again, Team Machine could stand a chance against Samaritan. Of course, the computers first day of work won't go quite as planned during "SNAFU" (see a preview below)

"The Machine experiences a glitch during rebooting, supplying Reese and Fusco with the numbers of dozens of people not actually involved in crimes, while also locking Finch and Root out after identifying them as threats based on past violent behavior," CBS teased.
