Can fans expect more fun episodes that interlock The Originals with The Vampire Diaries?

Considering that Stefan from Diaries already made his way into New Orleans in the spin-off's third season, some might wonder if something like this could potentially happen again. Diaries is heading into its eighth season while Originals is going into its fourth. So at this point, anything is possible.

On Monday, TV Line posted details from executive producer Julie Plec who gave the impression that another crossover episode could definitely happen again.

"It's a rare luxury to have two shows in a shared universe that you could do that," Plec said. "So to not do it feels like we're missing a really fun creative opportunity, a way to celebrate both shows. But it's not like anyone over at the network is calling us and being like, 'You need two crossovers this year.' I think it'd be fun to keep finding small, organic ways to do it."

The producer also explained how Matt Donovan made his way onto The Originals, something they had a great time creating.

"That wasn't for ratings, it just made logical sense that if the Originals were in Mystic Falls, they'd have a run-in with Deputy Donovan," Plec said. "I'd love to keep doing stuff like that. It's fun, and it's easier to accomplish than a massive two-show crossover."

The Originals has had its share of heartbreaking moments with a bunch of characters dying-- including Finn, Cami and surprisingly, Davina. As for the odds of Davina making a comeback in the fourth season, only time will tell if the writers will be nice enough to do so.

The Vampire Diaries airs on Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. The Originals airs on Fridays at 9.
