More and more of Beyonce’s family is speaking out on the real meaning of her Lemonade album as speculation said it’s about her husband, rapper Jay Z, cheating on her and her decision to forgive him. Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, is the latest to speak out about it.

“People make it all about the cheating and betrayal and yes, that’s part of it because that is something you have to heal from,” Lawson told ABC 13 earlier this week. “If you listen to the poetry it is one of hope and redemption and hopefully that can be healing for people.”

As for whether it was about Jay Z and Beyonce particularly, Lawson left that pretty open-ended as she didn’t confirm or deny reports.

“It could be about anyone’s marriage,” she added. “I think that everybody at one time or another has been betrayed and lied to and it’s about the pain—and it’s about the healing process—and it’s about how do you get past that and move on.”

As for Lawson, she has seen her fair share of betrayal as Mathew Knowles, Beyonce father, allegedly fathered two children toward the tail end of their marriage. The two called it quits in 2011. Now, Lawson has recalled how she got through that time with her daughters, Beyonce and Solange Knowles.
“I remember my first little pity party and I called them crying and you know, they all came. We had a slumber party, we watched old movies all night and ate ice cream—it was very healing. My children are my rock and they are. It’s just been the best gift God could have given me.”

Lawson remarried to actor Richard Lawson last summer.
