In episode 21 of Grey's Anatomy's ninth season, titled Sleeping Monster, Dr. Miranda Bailey will face an investigation by the Center of Disease Control after some of her patients died of unexplainable infections.

Bailey thought her intern was responsible for spreading the infection to her patients in the Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital, but the surgeon herself ended up being the guilty one. It was revealed in episode 20 that she was the only attendee to care for all of the patients that died.

A released image from episode 21 shows Bailey sitting down and discussing her options, meaning her future with the hospital.

The episode will air April 24 and ABC released a full synopsis for the upcoming installment:

"Bailey finds herself at the center of a CDC investigation surrounding the death of several of her patients, as Jackson and the rest of the board members argue over how to address the crisis with the public. Meanwhile, Cristina teases Alex about his unspoken feelings for Jo, and Owen continues to take special care of Ethan as the condition of his parents remains uncertain."

Aside from the plotline surrounding Bailey, Alex Karev might make a move on his intern Jo following enough teasing by Christina Yang. Karev has a history with getting involved with his interns sexually but he seems to have deep feelings for Jo, similar to the ones he once had for Izzie Stevens when she was at the hospital.

Owen Hunt continuing to care for Ethan may lead him to confront his differences with his girlfriend, especially since Yang hinted in episode 20 that she does not want to become a mother. Meredith Grey asked Yang if she would be Zola's guardian if anything happened to her, and Yang replied that she would instead prefer to be the "cool aunt."
