The Tantu Totem is headed to Legends of Tomorrow, but it will change hands in the process.

Viewers are familiar with Megalyn Echikunwoke portrayal of Mari McCabe/Vixen courtesy of character's titular animated web series, which launched last year. While Vixen took on the voice actress' corporeal body for Arrow's "Taken," Ms. Echikunwoke will not be the one to join Rip Hunter's (Arthur Darvill) crew in season 2. Nor, for that matter, will Mari.

Instead, The CW will cast a new player in the role as the Waverider jumps back in time to pick up an "an earlier version of the character who may or may not share some sort of historical tie to Miss McCabe," according to TV Line.

Fans of Echikunwoke heroine shouldn't worry, however. The Vixen cast will remain the same. The Greg Berlanti DC universe originally intended to use the actress in both series - the roll was cast with this switchover in mind - but Echikunwoke was already committed to another project.

Vixen will be just one of several new cast members to join the Legends for their sophomore adventure. Hourman (Patrick J. Adams) will recur while a modern day meta in his early 30s and a female soldier from WWII are slated to become series regulars. Be forewarned - that doesn't necessarily mean any of these characters will claim on of the empty seats on Hunter's time ship. There will be two superhero teams featured in season 2, and any of the aforementioned characters could wind up with this new squad.

"We are going to meet another super team," executive producer Marc Guggenheim told TV Insider. "Whether or not they all become members of the Legends, that is probably not going to be the case. There's going to be two super teams depicted on Legends next year, I will definitely say that."
