'Young and the Restless' Jeanne Cooper Recovering After Hospitalization (PHOTO)

Young and the Restless star Jeanne Cooper is recovering at home after being hospitalized for a life-threatening health scare that left her in the Intensive Care Unit.

The 84-year old soap legend, who has played the formidable Katherine Chancellor on the CBS series since 1973, was admitted for care at a Los Angeles Hospital on April 12. Her son, actor and director Corbin Bernsen, used social media to alert fans about his mother's condition and to ask for prayers.

"Won't elaborate now, but I believe there's still more purpose for her on this journey, but that's not my call," he wrote. "I love her so much. I want peace for her. I hope this is okay to share with all of you who know and love her."

It has still not been confirmed what Cooper was hospitalized for.

By the following April 20, Cooper's prognosis took a turn for the better. She was soon released from ICU and Bernsen took to Facebook to share the news of her improving state. He added a picture of his mother in her hospital bed smiling and flipping him the bird, but Facebook removed the picture. The site also deleted a picture of Cooper giving the thumbs up and threatened to shut down his account if he were to post similar pictures.

"I think what might have happened is that some people posted a photo I only put on Twitter - which has more relaxed standards - of my mom giving me the finger," Bernsen wrote. "I didn't post it on FB specifically out of respect to FB and some fans who might not want to see it. I think that someone reported "that photo" up on a few peoples's pages... not really sure."

Bernsen said that since his mother is doing better, there will be more content friendly pictures for him to post. He said that Cooper is anxious to return back to work where ironically her Y&R character is battling a brain tumor that is threatening her life.

"I do want to repeat something here that was removed with my post that I think bears repeating more than the photo," he said. "My mother ADAMANTLY, ABUNDANTLY AND WILL AGGRESSIVELY try to get back to work. She ain't done with Duchess! Look for photo later in day."
