Say goodbye to Outlander's baby-faced Lord John Grey and hello to David Berry.

We've reached an oasis in the midst of this year's interminable Droughtlander. Production for season 3 is humming along over in Scotland, and soon Berry will join Sam Heughan (Jamie) on the set. A character so beloved that Diana Gabaldon penned him his own series of adventures, John Grey will become a prominent figure during Jamie's Voyager incarceration.

"He's a steadfast and honorable British subject, torn between a finely-honed sense of familial duty and a strong moral compass of right and wrong. He is boyishly handsome with an upper class rearing - the consummate gentleman," Entertainment Weekly reported. "However, a scandal from his past has relegated Lord John to an undesirable position as governor of a desolate prison in Northern Scotland."

The prison in question is Ardsmuir, a penal institution that will house Jamie during Claire's (Caitriona Balfe) 20-year absence. Berry's early casting could signal early flashbacks for Heughan's character, particularly since it is unclear exactly how Outlander will deal with the opening chapters of Voyager.

Fans quickly took to Twitter to voice their overwhelmingly positive reactions to Berry's casting.

Outlander will return to Starz in 2017.
