The mystery is almost over. Season 6 of FX's American Horror Story is set to premiere Wednesday night, and fans will finally learn the season's theme.

Ryan Murphy and company have kept a tight lid on season 6 of American Horror Story, a huge change from the marketing of the first five seasons. Usually by premiere date fans know the theme, the cast, the characters they're playing, some of the plot and more. This time around, next to nothing is known, aside from the involvement of Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Matt Bomer, Finn Wittrock, Denis O'Hare, Wes Bentley, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Cheyenne Jackson and Leslie Jordan.

The marketing so far has been all over the place, with trailers teasing various aspects of horror but none of them indicating exactly what season 6 would be about. That's because FX created a bunch of misdirects to keep people guessing.

FX Networks CEO John Landgraf spoke at the Television Critics Association press tour in August and teased that they "went out and created many more trailers than you've actually seen for hypothetical seasons of 'American Horror Story', in different genres, different places. One of them is accurate, and the others are all misdirects."

The season 6 premiere of American Horror Story airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX. However, if you cannot watch the premiere on cable and want to see it live, you can try FX's live stream site here. You'll need a cable subscription to access the stream.

If you don't have a cable subscription you could always try Sling TV, which is a service that streams live channels without having to pay for cable. There's a seven-day free trial you can try now - just follow the steps here.
