The rumors were true. Dragon Ball Super Episode 59, Protect Kaiōshin Gowasu - Destroy Zamasu!, completely delivered, with God of Destruction Beerus personally intervening against Zamasu's plan to kill his master, obliterating the apprentice kaioshin in a single blow.

In a lot of ways, Episode 59 completely went according to how avid Dragon Ball fans predicted how Zamasu's nefarious plan would turn out. While the episode in itself did not really provide any huge surprise to fans, it was, nonetheless, completely satisfying.

For one, Dragon Ball Super fans finally got to see Beerus get serious once more, as stated by fans in the official Dragon Ball Super subreddit. With Zamasu's plan completely unraveled, Beerus was seriously angry, something that has not happened in the series for a long time. What is even more, Dragon Ball Super just gave everyone a reminder just how powerful a God of Destruction really is.

Other scenes that were memorable in Episode 59 involved Future Trunks being schooled by his past self. What's even more, present-day Trunks' pep talk to his future self featured a lot of Vegeta's point of views. If anything, the two Trunks' scenes together showed a distinct contrast between one who was raised by Bulma and another who was raised under the tutelage of the Prince of Saiyans.

One thing that really struck a lot of fans in the episode 60 preview was the fact that despite being completely annihilated in the present, Zamasu seems to be alive and well in the future, as stated by Inquisitr. This was after Beerus and Whis were unanimous in the idea that the future must have already fixed itself with the death of the evil apprentice kai.

With these in mind, numerous fans are speculating that Zamasu must have already wished for immortality before being completely destroyed by Beerus. Doing so would have prevented his complete death after his annihilation. In fact, being destroyed in the past would actually benefit Zamasu, since his spirit would be free to possess Goku in the future, thereby creating Black Goku.

It should be noted that on Goku and Black Goku's first match, Black remarked that it was the first time he would be fighting Goku in the Saian's own body. This gives the impression that they have fought before, but Black was in a different form. Thus, fans are speculating that Black Goku really is present-day Zamasu, saved by Shenron through his wish of immorality and transformed into Black Goku after the latter's death in the future.
