Funeral arrangements have been made for Kris Kross rapper Chris Kelly.

Murray Brothers Funeral Home in Atlanta said a public viewing for Kelly will be held on Wednesday, May 8, throughout the afternoon and evening. A funeral service has been scheduled for May 9 at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church.

The 34-year-old died on May 1 of a suspected drug overdose, said Kay Lester, spokesperson for the Fulton County police.

The cause of death was suspected based on the crime scene and what Kelly's mother, Donna Kelly Pratte, told authorities. Kelly Pratte told the police that her son had been doing cocaine and heroin the night before his death. He also complained of being nauseous.

Kelly was found unresponsive by the time paramedics arrived to administer CPR.

"She stated that they had brought Kelly home to recover from his drug use and had done this several times in the past," the police report stated.

Pratte released the following statement after her son's death:

"It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved Chris Kelly has passed away on May 1. To millions of fans worldwide, he was the trendsetting, backwards pants-wearing one-half of Kris Kross who loved making music. But to us, he was just Chris - the kind, generous and fun-loving life of the party."

Kelly became a household name in 1992 when he and fellow teen Chris Smith formed the rap group Kriss Kross. Their song, Jump, became a No. 1 hit worldwide and they toured with Michael Jackson. Smith released a statement on Twitter to reflect on the loss of his collaborator and best friend.

"He was like a brother. I love him and will miss him dearly. Our friendship began as little boys in first grade. We grew up together. It was a blessing to achieve the success, travel the world and entertain Kris Kross fans all around the world with my best friend," Smith said. "It is what we wanted to do and what brought us happiness. I will always cherish the memories of the C-Connection."
